Richard Leo Michaud, 46, beloved Son, Step-Son and Father, passed away on November 23, 2016 in Manchester, NH, following a long battle with addiction. Born in Salem, MA, he was the son of
Carol (Feener) Michaud and the late Raymond P. Michaud. Rick attended Horace Mann School while living in Salem and moved to Swampscott where he attended the Hadley School and Swampscott High School. He later moved to New Hampshire to live with his father and step-mother Janice.
Rick graduated with honors from the University of New Hampshire with a double major in English and Sports Studies. While in college, he wrote for USA Today and a sports column for a local newspaper. Following his graduation, he wrote a sports article for a small New Hampshire news paper until the closing of the paper. Shortly after, he moved to Tamworth, NH to help his mother and step-father, Frank run their small country store. Following the sale of the business, he and his daughter Alyssa moved to Wolfeboro to be near family.
He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Marie Michaud, a student of Plymouth State College in Plymouth, NH, his mother, Carol (Feener) Michaud Vernava and step-father, Frank B. Vernava, Sr. of Wolfeboro, NH, his step-mother, Janice Michaud of Salem, MA his sister, Lyn-anne Lemieux and husband Paul of Salem, MA, his brother, Robert Michaud and wife Kathleen of Lynn, MA, four step-brothers, Frank B. Vernava, Jr. and his wife Deb of Medford, MA, Robert B. of Swampscott, MA, David C. of Peabody, MA, Steven M. and wife Kerrie of Rockland MA, two stepsisters, Janis Boossaranesi and husband Puckdee of Burlington, VT, and Lianne Belkas and husband Dan of Lynn, MA. He also leaves his aunts , uncles, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Raymond P. Michaud, Sr., his brother Raymond P. Michaud, Jr. and his nephew, Mathieu Michaud.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service in Tabernacle Church in Salem, corner of Washington St. & Federal Sts., Salem, MA, [limited parking] on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 8th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, MA.
