Hazel S. Powell, 93, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home, in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Friday, December 2, 2016, at Satilla Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Annette Brooks officiating.
Mrs. Powell was born September 10, 1923, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late Henry & Mary Corbitt Solomon. She moved to the community in 1993 from Marion County, Florida. Mrs. Powell was a school bus driver and monitor for Marion County, Florida, for over 30 years. She loved crafts, traveling and taking cruises. Mrs. Powell was a member of Satilla Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons: Richard & Cindy Powell of Ocilla and Larry & Sandra Powell of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Chip Powell, Heather & Timothy Morgan, Kenneth Powell, and Wendy Powell and a great-grandson: Ryan Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Wayne Powell; two sons: Louis DeWayne Powell and Kenneth Ray Powell; a grandson, Kevin Powell; three brothers and one sister.
