Theodora (Chagaruly) George, 85, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, died August 14, 2005, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Fundas) Chagaruly, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Dartmouth in April.
She was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Bedford.
Mrs. George was formerly employed by Colonial Textile Manufacturing for 51 years until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. Her happiest moments were spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine DeRossi, and her husband Steven A. DeRossi, with whom she resided; five sisters, Maria Nanopoulos and Evangeline Baptiste, both of New Bedford, Helen Caradimos of Onset, Demetra Yotides of Rochester, and Selestia Pechonis of Whitman; three grandchildren, Dr. Scott S. DeRossi, and his wife Dr. Katharine Ciarrocca, of Malvern, PA., Attorney Gina L. DeRossi, and her husband Attorney Darren I. Goldberg, of Dartmouth, and Kim Ellen DeRossi of Dartmouth; three great-grandchildren, Noah DeRossi Goldberg of Dartmouth, and Sofia Katharine DeRossi and Evie Theodora DeRossi, both of Malvern, PA.; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Constantine Chagaruly.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Wednesday August 17, 2005, at 9 AM. Funeral Services at St. George Greek Orthodox Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, August 16, 2005, from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 87 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02746.
