Marie R. (Morrissette) Shaffer, age, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Nov. 19, 2016 at the Willimansett West Nursing Home in Chicopee. She was born on Nov. 22, 1926 in Chicopee. She was a daughter of the late Anthenase and Emma (Boutin) Morrissette. Marie loved art and music, but especially loved spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband Cecil Roy Shaffer who passed away on Jan. 1, 1992. She leaves 1 son, Jesse Lee Shaffer of Chesapeake, VA; 4 daughters, Theresa P. Nunes and her husband Armando of Ludlow, Laurie Gallagher and her husband James of Granby, Jo-Ann Marowski and her husband Robert of Springfield, and Barbara Thielen and her partner Scott Hawkins of Chicopee; 1 brother Ronald Morrissette of Chicopee; 1 sister Theresa Trask of South Hadley; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 2 brothers Edward and Marcelin Morrissette and also by 2 sisters Theodeline Lablanc and Irene Morris-Rollis and one grandchild Allen Thielen. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 from 9:00 -11:00 AM, at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by an in house Prayer Service at 11:00 AM Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
