SPRINGFIELD – Robert A. “Bob” Masse, 86, of Springfield and a former resident of Pinellas Park, FL, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Chicopee on July 30, 1930, a beloved son of the late Leo Charles Masse who was Called Home on January 4, 1964 and the late Marguerite M. (Masse) Masse-Parenteau who was Called Home on June 20, 1997. He was raised in Chicopee and graduated schools in Canada. He had lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to Pinellas Park in 2006. He recently moved to Springfield in July of 2016. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and also was a member of the Tiger’s Athletic Club, the Moose Family Center, the Eagle’s and the Elk’s Lodge, all in Chicopee. An avid and talented bowler, Bob was nominated into the Massachusetts Bowling Hall of Fame. He leaves his devoted partner and best friend, Judy A. Starke with whom he lived in Springfield; his three loving sons, Richard A. Laizer and Robert J. Laizer and his wife, Stacy, all of Springfield and Eric F. Laizer and his wife, Andri, of West Springfield; his 12 cherished grandchildren; his nine cherished great-grandchildren; his four dear sisters, Claire A. Dube of Westborough, Genevieve G. McCool of Pinellas Park, FL, Agnes A. Gore of Addison, TX and Constance H. Mirasolo and her husband, Christopher, of Wakefield, MA; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Masse family. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving daughter, Rhonda M. Laizer who was Called Home on November 19, 2015; his dear sister, Theresa Y. Chapdelaine who was Called Home on November 2, 2012; and his dear brother, Larry R. Masse. His family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
