MAHONEY, Mary Fay Age 93, of Framingham and formerly of Wellesley died peacefully on November 17, 2016. Mary and her late husband John J. Mahoney were the loving parents of eight children; John Mahoney and Rose, James Mahoney and Peggy McLoughlin, Mary Louise Mahoney Cohn and Jonathan, Jane Ochs and Kurt, Nancy Collopy and Steve, Reverend Thomas Mahoney, Daniel Mahoney and Anne, and Cate Mahoney. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren: Michael, Alison, Elizabeth, Caitria, Jake, Gracia, Timothy, Joey, Eddy, Augy, Kristofer, Geofrey, Ryan, Sandra, Daniel, Conor, Ruby, and Liam. She is survived by six great grandchildren: Anna, Carrick, Braden, Gracie, Maverick, and Francesca. Also surviving her are her two sisters Elinor Bowers and Jeanne Anne Bowers and her brother Dr. James E. O’Neil, as well as Maura Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Brookline, attended Notre Dame Academy and Emmanuel College and worked as a journalist at the Pilot newspaper. She was an associate member of the Sisters of St. Joseph and will be eternally grateful for the spiritual community and care at the Bethany Health Care Center. Her radiant joy and love, and her devotion to her family, friends, and faith touched the lives of all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 1:30-3:00pm at the Bethany Healthcare Center, 97 Bethany Rd., FRAMINGHAM and on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 4:00-8:00pm at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) WELLESLEY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 21 at 11:00am in St Ignatius Church, 28 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill. Interment in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
