Clara Ellen Mullins, 88 of Anderson, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2016 of natural causes.
Clara was born March 19, 1928 in Blacksburg, Virginia to Fred and Stella, (Counts) Yates. As an infant they moved to Clintwood, VA. Clara had 7 siblings including Victor, Madge, Henry, Jack, Fred Jr., (Sandy), James and Josephine, (Jo).
She graduated Clintwood High School in 1946 where she was captain of the girls’ volleyball team. Clara was a terrific cook and was employed at Carrie’s Restaurant in Clintwood, Virginia for many years.
Clara first married Ishmael Mace, (deceased) and then married Harry F. Mullins, (deceased). She raised five sons, Ishmael H. Mace, Mark Mace, Harry R. Mullins, Hansford F. Mullins, and Joseph, (Joe) Mullins.
She loved participating in activities with her sons and always beat them at softball, and rummy. She and her husband loved to camp at Lost Lake Campground. They were very active in church at Main Street Church of God.
Clara is survived by Ishmael and Tara, Boynton Beach, Florida, Mark and Karen, Anderson, Harry, Anderson, Hansford and Chong, San Antonio, and Joe, San Antonio, Texas, a sister Madge Kingsport, Tennessee, and a brother James and wife Becky Yates of High Point, North Carolina. She had many nephew’s, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service is pending for a later date.
