MacPherson, John “Mac” of Walpole formerly of Roslindale and Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on November 12, 2016. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict, John joined the National Guard and worked for the State Police criminal history division for 39 years. He was the loving husband of the late Anita “Penny”, father of Donna MacPherson of New Hampshire, Edward MacPherson and his wife Elaine of Westwood, Peggy MacPherson of Roslindale, Christina MacPherson of West Roxbury, Anita Niland and her husband Ralph of Norwood, Janice Reader and her husband George of Walpole, Renee Walsh and her husband Kevin of West Roxbury. Survived by his sister Kate Hanley and her husband Paul, predeceased by his sisters Marie Cormier and Mary Ferdinand and his brother David Holden (KIA Vietnam, ‘67).

Visiting hours Tuesday, November 15 from 4-8pm at P.E. Murray-F.J.Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury. Family and friends are also invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16 at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre St., West Roxbury at 10:00am.
