John P. Collins Sr. of Reading passed away on Saturday August 13, 2005 at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington. He was 87 years of age.
Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Patrick Collins and Margaret (Donovan) Collins. John was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all.
John was a part owner of Collins and Collins Law Firm in Reading for many years. During WWII he proudly served our country in the United States Army. John was and avid sports fan and had a very strong Catholic Faith.
John was the beloved husband of the late Muriel (Maher) Collins. He was the devoted father of John P. Collins and his wife Susan of Reading, James P. Collins and his wife Nancy of Reading, Joseph P. Collins of Quincy. Cherished grandfather of John C., Jill, Chuck, Karrie, Katie, Sean, Brian, Jaime, Garrett and the late Allen. Dear brother of James Collins, Ellen Roche, and the late Patricia Bowes and Joan Gillespie. John is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Joseph Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating John’s life in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday 2-4, 7-9pm. Internment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading.
