June D. (Dias) Medeiros, 88, of New Bedford died November 8, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Manuel Medeiros.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antone V. and Maria (Pinheiro) Dias, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and was awarded the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her many years of service to her parish.
Mrs. Medeiros assisted her late husband in the family business, Meta Seafood for many years. She was involved in music as a teacher, organist at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church for over 50 years and sang at "Thursday Musicale" during the 1950's.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1947, Kinyon Campbell, class of 1949 and later received her Bachelors Degree in Voice in 1954 from the New England Conservatory of Music.
Survivors include her son, Manuel Medeiros of Dartmouth; a daughter, June M. Medeiros of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dias; 2 grandchildren, Joshua L. Medeiros and Noah A. Medeiros; 3 nieces, Cathy Concordia, Barbara Dias and Debbie Dias.
She was the sister of the late Anthony A. Dias and the aunt of the late Patty Dias.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 19th at 9 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 18th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
