Joyce P. (Gomes) Medina, 60, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Cape Cod Hospital after a long courageous battle after suffering a stroke.
She had been the loving and devoted wife of Eduino M. Medina.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Domingo and Rose (Gonsalves) Gomes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She attended the International Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Medina was employed at Titleist Ball Plant 2 for more than 28 years until her illness. She had also worked at Frionor Kitchens.
Joyce always had a smile and an “I love you” for those around her. She will be remembered for her love of family, and her constant faith in God. Her favorite quote was "You do your best and God will do the rest."
She enjoyed Cape Verdean music, dancing and Social Media. She was passionate about animals and loved her dog Rex.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Ericka Gomes and Alexis Medina of Peoria, Illinois; four brothers, William Gomes of Randolph, John Gomes and wife Christine of Marion, Alan and David Gomes, both of New Bedford; two sisters, Cheryl Walwyn of New Bedford and Rosemary Castro of South Dartmouth; two grandsons, Jordan Gomes and Trayzel Gomes of Peoria, Illinois; her great-grandson, Jayvair and her great-granddaughter, Jordyn Serenity, all of Peoria, Illinois. Joyce will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Vivian J. Vieira and Melvin E. Gomes.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 11th from 4-8 PM.
