Obituary

Alice Louise (Rydberg) Wilkins of Mystic died Friday at Pendleton in Mystic.
She is survived by her children, Norman Jacobsen of Mystic, Janet Jacobsen and Carol (Jacobsen) Medina of Santa Barbara, CA; 5 grandchildren an 5 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Andrew Jacobsen and her second husband, Harold Wilkins and by her five siblings.

Alice lived a full life which included a nursing career from which she retired in 1982 as Head Nurse at Norwich State Hospital.

Active in local organizations, she was a member of the Eastern Star, the Westerly Senior Center, Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, the Stonington Golden Agers, and served as an outreach volunteer of the Widowed Persons Service. She also served as Past Secretary of the Mystic Woman’s Club, Past President of the Quiambaug Fire Co. Woman’s auxillary, Charter member of the Mystic Valley Chapter of the AARP, and Charter member of he Mystic Aquarium.

A member of the Mystic Congregational Church, she sang in the church choir for 20 years, and served as Past Secretary of it’s Women’s Fellowship. An accomplished bowler, she bowled in 18 national bowling tournaments, served as Past Sergeant of Arms of the New London Women’s Bowling Association and member Emeritus and Past president of the New London Women’s Bowling Assoc.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 5-7pm. A Memorial service will be conducted at the Mystic Congregational Church on Tuesday at 2pm. Following cremation, burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
