James Elbert Gordon, Jr., age 55, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at his home in Batesville, MS. He was born August 27, 1961 in Memphis, TN to James Elbert Gordon, Sr. and the late Virginia Louise Donaldson Gordon. James was of Baptist faith and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. He was a self-employed mechanic who loved the challenge of fixing things. James loved the beach and going to the coast, camping and boating. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother; and family meant everything to him.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 from 11:00 a.m until 12:30 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, following the visitation in the Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Batesville, MS with Bro. Charles Reed officiating.
James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan McCowen Gordon of Batesville, MS; two daughters, Renae Gordon Johnson (Barrett) and Jayme Ellen Gordon all of Batesville, MS; his father, James Elbert Gordon, Sr. of Water Valley, MS; and his brother, John Garland Gordon of Water Valley, MS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Louise Donaldson Gordon.
