Robert Michael Mienscow, 90, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Norwood Hospital. He was the beloved husband for 61 years to Irene E. (Castonguay) Mienscow.
Born on February 10, 1926 in Somerville, MA he was a son of the late Michael and Rita (Lenoir) Mienscow. Robert grew up in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and graduated from the Boston Trade School where he studied to become an electrician. During his senior year of high school he entered the Navy, where he served on the USS Altair as a Fireman First Class during WWII. After his discharge from the Navy, Robert went on to continue his education as an electrician and graduated from Coyne Electrical and received his Master Electrician from MIT.
Robert worked as an electrician for many years at L.F. Fales Company as well as F.M. Global.
In his spare time, Robert loved to fish, watch sports of all kinds, and was an avid fan of all the New England sports teams. A proud Navy Veteran, he was a member of the VFW Post 5188 in Walpole.
In addition to his wife Irene and brother in-law George, he is survived by his children, Robert Mienscow Jr. and his
wife Florentina of Woodstock, GA, Richard Mienscow and his wife Lori of Uxbridge and Rita Mienscow of Walpole.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robert Mienscow III, Jason Mienscow and his wife Alicia, Christopher Mienscow, Krystal Rose and Maria Kuszynski and his two great-grandchildren William Mienscow and Christian Rose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 8 at 10:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, from 4:00 – 8:00pm in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main Street, Walpole.
