Obituary

Francis Anthony Medeiros of Provincetown, 86, died Tuesday, November 1st at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was the husband of Rita (Meads) Medeiros.

Born in Provincetown, the son of Frank and Amelia (Souza) Medeiros, he was a graduate of Provincetown High School. After graduation, he joined the US Navy and served four years, during the Korean War. He served aboard the New Kent, a troop ship and the Orion, a submarine tender as an Electricians Mate.

After being discharged, he returned to Provincetown and worked as a trap fisherman, and did scalloping aboard trap boats. Later he was a self-employed carpenter, doing many building projects in the area. The last few years before retirement, he worked as a municipal parking attendant for the Town of Provincetown.

Mr. Medeiros was a long-time member of the Walter Welsh Council, Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Peters the Apostle Catholic Church. Among his many interests were country music, sports, gardening, reading, and sport fishing.

In addition to his wife Rita, sons Wesley and Michael Medeiros, both of Truro and daughter Pamela Silva of South Chatham also survive him. He also leaves grandsons Jessie, Cameron, Chad, and Wyatt Medeiros.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Moko's family on Friday, November 4th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 5th at Saint Peter the Apostle Church, Prince Street, Provincetown. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
