John “Jack” Caluori, Jr, 73, of Johnston passed away October 31, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of JoAnn (Moretti) Caluori. They had been married for 43 years.
Born in Providence, Jack was the son of John and Antonetta (Finelli) Caluori.
Jack’s life-long dedication to service began at age 18, when he was a volunteer firefighter in Meshanticut. He then joined the Johnston Fire Department where he served for 28 years, achieving the rank of Deputy Chief. All who knew him were keenly aware of his deep respect and affection for his fellow firefighters.
After his retirement, Jack was a founding member of the Cranston Volunteer Firefighter’s Museum and was active in the Johnston Firefighter’s Retiree Association.
Jack was a communicant of Saint Mary Church in Cranston, where he volunteered as an usher every weekend. He was a past President and active member of Saint Mary’s Holy Name Society. Committed to helping those less fortunate, Jack belonged to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, where he served as President of both the Saint Mary’s chapter and Providence District.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Erin Clark and her husband, Douglas, of Johnston, and Colleen Caluori-Moniz and her husband, Jeffrey, of Johnston. A loving grandfather, he was Papa to Meghan, Daniel and Michaela Clark, and to Nicholas John Moniz. He was the brother of Ann Keller of Johnston. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael Caluori.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30am in Anderson Winfield Home, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held Friday, November 4th from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 181 Princess Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.
