John V. Ballero, of Seabrook NH, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday night at the Haven Health Center, Hampton, NH, after a long illness. He was 80.
Mr. Ballero was born in Boston, the son of the late Joseph and the late Anna (Ucello) Ballero.
A World War II Navy Veteran, John was a 50 year member of pipefitters Local 537, Boston and worked with Honeywell Corp. A member of the Medford lodge of Elks, John was a sports enthusiast who coached South Medford Little League for many years and followed the Boston Bruins. He lived in Seabrook for the past 18 years and was a member of the American Legion post 70, Seabrook and the Seabrook Happy Senior Citizens Club.
His survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Antonetta “Toni” (Raspa), his daughters Maryann Ankiewicz and her husband Robert of Peabody, Patricia Vaughan and her husband Stephen of Medford; grandchildren John Ankiewicz and his wife Kelly, Edward Ankiewicz and his wife Heather, Jennifer Anton and her husband Jonathan, Fallon Vaughan and Kelsey Vaughan; great grandchildren Calvin and Jonathan Anton, Lila and Nicholas Ankiewicz. John was the brother of the late Victor and Michael Ballero.
Friends and family may visit Friday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, Saturday at 9 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
