SPRINGFIELD – Melvin Murry, 77, of the Pine Point section of Springfield, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016, at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Orangeburg, SC, a beloved son of the late Joseph D. and Agnes (Riley) Murray. He was raised in Orangeburg and moved to Springfield in the late 1950’s. He was employed as a mason with the Mass. Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Union and retired as a master cement finisher in 2002. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving daughter, Melvina Perry; his step-daughter, Sheryl Simmons; his two brothers, Harry Murray and Hercules Murray; and his sister, Carrie Lee Elliott. He is survived by his two loving sons, Melvin M. Murry, Jr. and Mark L. Murry and his wife, Marysol, all of Springfield; his six grandchildren, James, Nneka, Sharaun, Kaila, Nakeisha and Mattice; his many great-grandchildren; his brother and two sisters, Thomas Murray and Minnie Gill, both of Springfield and Thelma Davis of Wilbraham; and his former wife, Patricia A. (Matatall) Murry of Springfield. His family will receive friends on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Third Baptist Church, 149 Walnut Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
