EAST BRIDGEWATER - Ethel May (Taylor) Brooks, 71, of East Bridgewater died Monday at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of Richard L. Brooks Sr. for 50 years.
Born May 3, 1934, in Hyde Park, she was the daughter of Louis and Esther (Draper) Taylor and was raised and educated there.
Mrs. Brooks was a past president of the Brockton Chapter of Mother of Twins Club and was CCD director at St. John Church.
A homemaker, she had been a resident of East Bridgewater for the past 40 years, coming from South Easton.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her children, Gina Brooks and her husband Ronald Cotter of Stoughton, Laura Brooks of West Bridgewater, Richard Brooks Jr. of West Bridgewater, Margaret Parks and her husband Telford of East Bridgewater, Michael Brooks of N. Carolina and Thomas Brooks and his wife Joan of South Easton; two brothers, Charles Taylor of Stoughton and Louis Taylor of Hyde Park; her sister, Ellen McKinnon of N. Weymouth; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a devoted daughter-in-law, Kim Brooks. She was also sister to the late George and Arthur Taylor.
Her funeral service will be held in New England Baptist Church, Rte. 28, West Bridgewater, Friday at 10 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
