William H. "Bill" Morrissey, 70, of Franklin died October 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Maureen, with whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage in January.
Bill was born in the Bronx, raised in Queens, and started his family in Long Island, NY. Bill graduated from St. Mary’s HS in Manhasset NY, class of 64. After working a year, Bill signed up for 4 years in the Air Force and served in Texas and the Philippines. Returning to civilian life, Bill enrolled in The City University of New York where in 1976 he received his Bachelors degree in Accounting. After working in NYC for several years, Bill was transferred to the Boston area in 1978 and happily found and settled in Franklin. Bill spent the rest of his career in senior level finance positions in Boston and Metro West area. Bill was forced to retire in 2013 due to illness.
Bill’s greatest joy over the past decade was spending quality time with his 4 grandchildren; Kiah of Montana, and Sidney, Sophia and Abigail of Medway. Bill loved the outdoors and you could always find him working in the garden or on the house, cars and motorcycle. Bill was an active sports fan and participated as a player and coach in many.
In addition to his wife Maureen, he is survived by his son Brian and wife Katie of Bozeman, Montana, Dennis and wife Michelle of Medway and daughter Sharon of Portland, Maine; 4 brothers, Mike and wife Mickey of CA, Dan of MA, Kevin of NJ, and Jimmie of NY; 1 sister, Eileen and husband Phil of NY and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Friday, October 21 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhome.com) followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Burial will take place privately at a later date.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m.
