Jean E. ‘Mitch” Michaud, 72 of Peabody, died unexpectedly at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. He had collapsed while playing golf on Thursday, October 6th.
Born and raised in Salem, He was the son of the late Lionel J. Michaud and Cecile (DeVoe) Michaud.
Mitch was a graduate of Salem High and first worked for Shetland Manufacturing in Salem from 1964 through the early 1970. He later worked for New England Carbide Drills, in Peabody and did part time counseling for adolescents in the Homeward Bound Program in Beverly.
Mitch real passion was for bowling. He was a professional bowler for 35 years and won the championship roll off for Channel 5. He also did competitive roller skating and was an avid fan of Country Western Dancing. He was a member of the Salem Moose Lodge and American Legion Spear Post in Beverly.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Michaud of Andover, two granddaughters, Desiree and Arianna, Two brothers, Ret. Firefighter, Ronald J. L. Michaud and his wife Jacqueline of Salem, Paul Michaud of New Hampshire, two sisters, Lucienne Flynn of Florida and Claire Michaud of Salem, as well as nieces and nephews. He also leaves his devoted companion, Margaret Melanson of Danvers. He was predeceased by his sisters, Pauline Francis and Jeannette Duchesne.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 9:00 Am to be followed by his Funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 AM. Visiting hour, at the funeral home will be on Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
