Fairhaven – William Mello, age 96, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Alden Court Nursing Home. He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Mariano and Evangelina (Amaral) Mello. He worked most of his life in marine construction and was retired from the Silverstein Family Store.
He is survived by 3 grandchildren: Harry Silverstein, Wendy Jack and Jeffrey Mello, 4 great grandchildren: Sarah and Caleb Silverstein and Ava and Ella Jack, his companion: Viola Osborne, son in-law, Louis Silverstein, special friends: Jeffrey Silverstein and Amy Breault, as well as several nieces and nephews.
William was the father of the late Paul Mello and Donna Silverstein and grandfather of the late: Sarah Silverstein-Kietzmann and Kevin Mello. He is also predeceased by several siblings.
His funeral will take place in the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 21, 2016 followed by services at 11:00 AM. Burial of his cremains will follow at St. John Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma 02740.
