Romeo A. Daniel, 75, of Fairhaven died Saturday August 6, 2005 at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Leona B. (Lemieux) Daniel, who died on March 26, 2005. They had been married for 52 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Cleophas and Elvina (Desorcy) Daniel, he had lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
Mr. Daniel was formerly employed as District Manager for the Standard-Times for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 73 in New Bedford and the American Legion.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping and sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. He had been a Little League Baseball coach.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Daniel, and his wife Denise, of Fairhaven, Stephen Daniel of Taunton, and Gerald Daniel, and his wife Anna, of Underhill, Vt.; four daughters, Cecile Waterman, and her husband George, of Gilbertsville, Penn., Anne Boulay, and her husband Mark, of Rochester, Linda Tchorz of Acushnet, and Jane Clough, and her husband Daniel, of Fairhaven; three brothers, Norman Daniel, and his wife M. Celia, of Jupiter, FL, Albert Daniel, and his wife Lorraine, and Paul Daniel, all of Acushnet; 17 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Thursday August 11, 2005 at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday August 10, 2005 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
