FALL RIVER - Olive L. Rego, 87, of 2446 Highland Ave. Fall River, died Sunday in Fall River at Catholic Memorial Home. Wife of the late Joseph S. Rego.She is survived by 1 Son: Joseph S. Rego Jr. of Fall River, 1 Brother: Anthony J. Lopes of California, 2 Grandchildren: Susan Chabot and Todd Rego, 2 Great-grandchildren: Joshua and Deanna Chabot, and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel, Jesse, Louis, Mary, and Hermina Lopes, and Margaret Ferreira.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Manuel Lopes and the late Margarida (Perry) Lopes. She was a resident of Fall River for all of her life. Before retiring in 1979, she was employed as a Floor Lady for Needle Craft Fall River Dress Co. She was a member of St. Michael Church, a past president of the Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Michael Parish, a member of its Holy Ghost Feast Committee, the Cosmo Cupolo Senior Citizen Club, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was also the recipient of the Marian Medal in 1992 by Bishop O’Malley. She was very active with St. Michael’s Bingo & with her husband was very active in the St. Michael’s Parish Kitchen.
Her Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday 4 – 7 P.M.
