John F. MacDonald, Jr., 88, of Westport, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Somerset Ridge Center. He was the husband of the late Isabelle (Hodkinson) MacDonald. They had been married for 66 years.
Mr. MacDonald was born in Fall River, son of the late John F. and Nora (Hurley) MacDonald and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he worked as a plumber for the Local 51 of East Providence. In his early years he worked on his family farm on Main Rd. in Westport. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport and enjoyed painting and yard work.
Survivors include his 2 sons: John F. "Jack" Macdonald, III and his wife Constance of Westport and Michael J. MacDonald and his wife Jacqueline of Westport; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Arthur MacDonald and Mary Eolin.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
