Lillian L. Menard, 89, of Woonsocket died Monday at St. Antoine Residence.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Arthur J. Menard and Evelyn (Gosselin) Menard Lemay. She was also the step-daughter of the late Adrian Lemay. She was a resident of Woonsocket for most of her life.
Lillian received her Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri and later earned her MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Lillian lived in religious life as a member of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis in Springfield, Illinois and was known as Sr. M. Rochelle.
In lay life she was the Assistant Director of Nutrition at the Miriam Hospital in Providence for 12 years. She later became Director of Nutrition Services at Landmark Medical Center before retiring in 1990. In her younger years she also was employed by New England Telephone Company.
Lillian was a longtime communicant of St. Agatha’s parish and was a Eucharistic Minister at Mt. St. Francis/Trinity Health Care Center. She also volunteered her time at Reach to Recovery for the American Cancer Society, the Agape Center and RI Reads. She was a member of the senior physical fitness fun Club at the YMCA, the OTTOs (Old Time Telephone Operators) and the Telephone Pioneers club.
She is survived by a sister Claire M. Dupont of Woonsocket and was the sister of the late Robert A. Menard and Normand R. Menard. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha’s Church, 34 Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 pm.
