Yvonne T. Hebert, 86, of 183 Winter Street died Thursday evening, August 4, 2005 at St. Francis Health Care Center in Laconia after a brief illness.
Yvonne was the daughter of the late Gedeon and Marie Anne (Bosse) Hamel. She was born in Laconia on February 10, 1919 and had been a life long resident.
Yvonne was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia and a lifetime member of the Ladies of Sacred Heart.
Yvonne attended Laconia schools and opted to work full time in her father’s grocery store, Hamel’s Market in Laconia. A trip to Hartford, CT, during WWII introduced her to her future husband. Although service-related duties required out-of-state residency for a few years, Yvonne longed to return to her hometown where they would remain throughout her life. She was the consummate wife and mother, tending to her family in a most loving way. When her children had grown she took the opportunity to work as a hostess at various local restaurants including the former Windmill Restaurant during the 60’s and 70’s. Once retired she concentrated on crocheting and reading.
Yvonne was predeceased by one daughter, Yvette in 1958. She was also predeceased by her six brothers, Lorenzo, Rudolphe, Victor, Dr. Fernand, Armand, and Richard Hamel.
Yvonne is survived by her husband of 60 years, Norman J. Hebert of Laconia, one daughter, Claire Hebert of Laconia, one son, Daniel Hebert and his wife Donna of Hillsboro, four grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
