Franklin Eugene “Gene” Mainor, 82, of Brookfield passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Murray Hand officiating. Mr. Mainor will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, September 30, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will also be receiving visitors at Mr. Mainor’s home, 33 Brookfield-Lenox Road in Brookfield.
Pete Brinson, Harmon Coarsey, Charles Rogers, Lewis Dean, Woodrow Wilson and Wayne Phagan will serve as pallbearers. Charles “Frog” Garren will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Born February 28, 1934 in Cuthbert, Mr. Mainor was the son of the late Homer Frank Mainor and Verna Mae Perry Mainor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Joyce” Hand Mainor; a daughter, Regina Ann Mainor; and three granddaughters, Tara Lynn Griffin Webb, Lakeshia Miranda Fogarty and Trena Sharee Tolar Parker. He was a retired truck driver, a Shriner and loved gardening.
Mr. Mainor is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Renee Mainor Griffin and husband, Steve of Moultrie, Tawana Hogan Geiger and husband, Jim of Tifton, Gena Hogan Partain and husband, Matthew of Tifton and Sharee Hogan Harmon and Lawrence York of Brookfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Don Hogan and wife, Lisa of Tifton; ten grandchildren, Kristi Jordan of Moultrie, Scott Hogan of Tifton, Amber Fogarty Holmes of Midway, Alexander Geiger of Tifton, Brannon Nance of Enigma, Chelsie Gray of Nashville, Clay Tolar of Tifton, Nicholas Dillard of Brookfield, Dallas Harmon of Ocilla and London Hogan of Tifton; and several great-grandchildren.
