
WAYLAND: Alfred P. “Pa” Pagano, 91, died peacefully and comfortably under the care and comfort of his loving family on Saturday, September 24, 2016 following a brief illness.
He was born in Newton on December 14, 1924 the son of the late Francesco Pagano and Carmela (Zarella) Pagano.
He was the beloved and devoted husband for 72 years of Bessie E. (Kincaid) Pagano of Wayland.
Loving father of Sandra L. O’Brien and her husband Jack O’Brien of York, Maine; Carol Ann Hewitt and her husband Roger Hewitt of Hope, Maine; Robert A. Pagano and his wife Karen Pagano of Ventura, CA; Alfred P. Pagano, Jr. and his companion Nathlie Dutra of Wayland; Philip J. Pagano and his wife Heidi Pagano of Sarasota, FL and Tonia M. Kearns and her husband James Kearns of Natick. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great, great- grandson. Brother of Joseph M. Pagano of Framingham; Rose Sostilio of Newton and the late Michael and Louy Pagano. He was the grandfather of the late Mark D. “Obie” O’Brien who died on November 15, 1997.
Pa has been a resident of Wayland for over 53 years and previously resided in Natick and spent his formative years in Newton where he was education at Newton North High School.
He retired after over 40 years as an assembler with General Motors in Framingham. He also worked for the Town of Wayland in the water department as a water meter reader. He will long be remembered at Wayland Country Club where he was a starter/ ranger and member for over 25 years. An avid golfer, he won several club championships at the Wayland Country Club and at the Saddle Hill Country Club in Hopkinton and also accomplished several holes-in-one over the years. He was a devout sports fan of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the local New England sports teams. In his earlier years, he coached Little League Baseball in Newton. Pa was a member of the Sons of Italy in Wellesley and a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish in Wayland.
He will be fondly missed by all of the lives that he touched, the friendships he made over the years and for his wonderful sense of humor and always a smile on his face.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home at 9:00 am on Thursday, September 29, 2016 followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the O’Brien – Pagano family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
