TEWKSBURY - Mrs. JoAnna P. (Sicko) May, age 72, died peacefully on September 19th at Lowell General Hospital in the loving care of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Walter D. May, with whom she had celebrated a fifty-fourth wedding anniversary this past February.
She was born in Cohoes, NY, in March 1944, and raised by her late parents, Edward and Wilma (Beers) Sicko, in the greater Albany, NY, area. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in Clifton Park, NY. After her marriage to Walter, they lived in Round Lake and Plattsburgh, NY, before moving to Tewksbury in 1977.
JoAnna was employed as a Pharmacy Technician by Rite Aid Pharmacy on Main Street in Tewksbury, and later at the Andover Road, No. Tewksbury, locations.
She was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
JoAnna was remembered as having devoted her life to her family, and for her gardening skills at her home.
She is survived by her loving husband , Walter D. May of Tewksbury, by four children, Colleen and her husband David Sullivan of Sandown, NH, Ellen and her husband Stephen Surette of Atkinson, NH, Timothy and his wife Karen (Riley) May of Haverhill, and Trevor and his wife Allison (Kramer) May of Nashua, NH; nine adored grandchildren, Thomas Sullivan and Meghan Sullivan both of Sandown, NH, Nicole (Surette) and her husband Daniel Woodworth of Danville, NH, Cory Surette of Atkinson, NH, Keith May and Kaitlyn May both of Haverhill, Zachary May, Abigail May, and Cassidy May all of Nashua, NH; and two beloved great grandchildren, Callen and Brayden Woodworth.
MAY - Visiting hours Friday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Saturday at 9:00am from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Saturday, September 24th at 10:00am in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
