
SALEM - Helen M. “Helchi” (Grabas) Gajewski, 67, wife of the late Francis “Frank” Gajewski died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at her residence.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Stanley F. and Helen (Swiniarski) Grabas. She was a graduate of Salem High School in the class of 1966 and was a lifelong resident of the city.
For several years, she was employed in the family business, Grabas the Caterer. She was later employed at the Danvers State Hospital for many years.
She is survived by a niece, Amy and her husband, Sean Jones of Piermont, NH, a nephew, Mark and his wife Billie-Joe Grabas of Mancheter, NH a grand nephew, Spencer Lewko, grand nieces, Alexea and Autumn, and several cousins including Dennis and Debra Hamson of Manchester, NH and their children, Jake and Sara Hamson. She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Grabas.
Helen loved spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband Frank used to spend many hours at Winter Island where she loved to feed the ducks. Helen was also a big fan of Bingo. Her favorite holiday was Halloween when she loved to dress up as a “Salem Witch”. Helen loved all music and dancing, especially to her beloved Elvis Presley.
Visiting hours for Helen will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Cemetery services are private.
