CHICOPEE – Edmond W. “Eddie” Picard, 80, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, September 15, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on April 27, 1936, a beloved son of the late Joseph E. and Grace A. (Morin) Picard. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated Chicopee schools and was a resident of Willimansett Heights since 1964. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard during the Korean War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a paper maker at Sunoco Paper Products in Holyoke and retired in 1997. He previously was employed by the former Chicopee Undergarment Company. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He was a member of the Willimansett Heights Improvement League and a former member of the Moose Family Center in Chicopee Falls. Ed loved boating, riding motorcycles, tinkering with small machines, gardening, puzzles, traveling around the United States and going to his granddaughter’s athletics meets and recitals “at least for the first hour”. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved his family and many friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving son, Brian J. Picard who was Called Home on April 19, 1978; his cherished grandson, Aidan Thomas Robinson who was Called Home on August 14, 2002; his four dear brothers, Gerard Picard, Raymond Picard, his twin Edward Picard and Roger Picard; and his dear sister, Jeanne Riendeau. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Jeanne d’Arc H. (Proulx) Picard. They were married on June 3, 1961 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Janet L. Robinson and her husband, Rick, of Granby and Todd R. Picard of Jacksonville, FL; his two cherished granddaughters, Zoe Robinson of Granby and Vivien Picard of Jacksonville, FL; his dear sister, Anne Dinkelman and her husband, Wayne, of Seattle, WA; his four sisters-in-law, Dottie Picard of California, Shirley Picard of Chicopee, Peggy Picard of Ludlow and Barbara Picard of Florida; his brother-in-law, Danny Riendeau of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Picard and Proulx families. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, September 19, 2016 at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will be private at the convenience of his family. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
