Obituary

MANCHESTER - Gary Roger Mercier, 63, died September 6, 2016 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a valiant battle with heart disease and cancer.

He was born in Manchester on April 8, 1953, the only child of the late Roger A. Mercier and Doris M. (Pepin) Mercier. Gary leaves the love of his life, Cheryl I. Park of Dover, N.H., with a special fondness for her son, Todd Matthew Park.
He also leaves two cousins, Richard Daigle of Bedford, NH and Jacqueline Dodge of Sarasota, FL, and, many close friends.
Gary graduated from West High School in Manchester, class of 1971. He served as an aircraft mechanic at the Naval Air Test Center (NATC) in Maryland during the Vietnam War. An excerpt from a special letter of appreciation Gary received for his service to NATC describes the special traits that he would carry with him throughout life - "You continuously demonstrated the personal desire, versatility, ingenuity and "can do' spirit that was essential in obtaining the desired goals of such a unique organization."

After his discharge from the Navy, Gary held many varied positions during his lifetime. He was an insurance salesman for Prudential and other companies and had worked locally in Hooksett, NH as a marketer for Affordable Garages, Inc. before he became ill.

As all who came to know him, Gary was recognized for his multi-talents and his inventive spirit that deemed him readily able to build, repair, and adapt to many applications. He will be remembered and missed for his loyalty to others, his generosity, and sincerity, as well as his wonderful sense of humor and his great cooking!

A committal service with military honors will take place on Friday at 12 noon in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road.
