Mary Jane (Lally) Moffitt, 94 of Rutland formerly of Medway passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Sterling Village, Sterling MA. She was the wife of the late James Edward Moffitt who died in 1992.
Born on March 4, 1922 in Franklin, MA she was the daughter of the late Dennis P. and Bridget (Murphy) Lally of County Mayo Ireland. Mary graduated from Medway High School with the class of 1940 and then went on to attend Northeastern University in Boston.
From the 1940s through the early 1960s Mary worked in the Charlestown Navy Yard as a secretary. She then went on to work as a Teacher`s Assistant in the Boston school system during the 1970s. In 1974 Mary took a position with Department of Welfare as a Medical Assistant until her retirement in 1992.
Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court of St. Joseph in Medway and a member of the Uxbridge Grange, Massachusetts State Grange and the National Grange.
In her spare time, Mary loved to sew, read and write letters. Most important she cherished her time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Jane Jordan and her husband Randy of Rutland and their children Sarah and Sumner Jordan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Lally of Medway.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, September 15 at 9:15am from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St., Medway. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 14 from 5:00 to 8:00pm in the funeral home.
