Obituary

Lawrence E. Sylvia, Jr., 72, of New Bedford died August 1, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Lawrence P. and Raymounde (Bosse) Sylvia, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by A. T. Cross Company in Ashaway, RI for many years until his retirement. In his retirement, he was a truck driver for the Standard-Times.
Mr. Sylvia was a former member of the New Bedford Rod and Gun Club and was the recipient of several awards for archery.
He enjoyed bowling and his computer.
Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Rothwell, and her husband Frederick Rothwell, III, of New Bedford; 2 sons, Lawrence A. Sylvia, III, and his wife Laura, of North Carolina and Frank L. Sylvia-Chandler, and his wife Dawn, of New Bedford; his fiancée, Lillian A. Gonneville and her daughter Katheleen Richards, both of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Frank Lawrence Sylvia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Committal Service on Friday August 12, 2005 at 10:30 AM in St. John's Cemetery.
