Harold W. “Bud” Raftery, of Stoneham, died suddenly, Friday at the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital. He was 78.
Mr. Raftery was born in Cambridge and raised in Allston, the son of the late Harold and the late Anna (Clancy) Raftery. During World War II, Bud served with the US Navy in both the Pacific and atlantic theaters. Before moving to Stoneham 12 years ago, Bud was a Somerville resident for over 35 years and worked as a machinist for BCH Electronics, before his retirement.
He was the beloved husband of Diane (Flynn). He was a devoted father to Kelly Indigaro and her husband Michael of N. Andover, DeeDee Raftery of Shirley, Susan Silva and her husband Dan of Wakefield, William Raftery and his wife Lisa of Shirley, and Bryan Raftery of Stoneham. He was a loving grandfather to Danny, Kelli, Katelyn, Michael, Bianca and Shannon. He was a dear brother of Mary Ryan of Gilford, NH and the late Claire Brady.
