Obituary

Paula M. (Manning) Parker, 85, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, September 2, 2016 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was the devoted wife of Irving S. Parker, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late William F. Manning and Marion H. (Burkinshaw) Manning. Paula was a graduate of House in the Pines in Norton, MA and attended Garland College in Boston. Prior to raising her family, she worked in the offices of A. C. Lawrence Leathers of Peabody and she later worked for the Dorothe Ann Shop in Marblehead.

Devoted to her family, in her spare time, she enjoyed being with her grandchildren, reading, gardening and spending time in York Beach Maine.

In addition to her husband Irving, she is survived by her children, Marion H. Swenbeck and her fiancée, Douglas J. Ross of Lynn, Christopher S. Parker and his wife Mariann of Ponte Vedra, FL, Billie-Sue Parker of Salem, Andrew S. Parker and his wife Kerry of West Chester, PA. She also leaves her grandchildren, Paula M. Swenbeck, Amanda B. Parker, Chelsea M. Parker, Erin E. Parker, Emily C. Parker & Steven D. Ross. She was predeceased by her sisters, Billie E. Gibson, Dorothe A. Spurrier & Barbara L. Roberts and her grandson, Donald Swenbeck.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 4:00 to 6:30 PM with her funeral service in the funeral home at 6:30 PM. Following her service, relatives and friends are invited to the Parker family residence for a celebration of her life. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Plummer Home for Boys, 37 Winter Island Rd., Salem, MA 01970.
