Obituary

HAROLD ALVIN MARCUM,84, passed away on September 3, 2016.

He was a retired employee of LG&E, a retired Navy officer with a total of 36 years of service, a member of the VFW Churchill Downs Post 2921, a Kentucky Colonel, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Harold helped organize the Camp Taylor Little League where he coached for 5 years, helped organize the Local 2100 IBEW where he served in many capacities, organized the AFL-CIO Retirees Council where he served as Treasurer, and was a State Representative for the National Committee to preserve Social Security and Medicare.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Mabel Marcum.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Sharon (Eversole) Marcum; his children, Brenda Cox, Karen Satterlee, Sherri Magruder (Larry), Gina Hawthorne (Darran) and John C. Marcum; grandchildren, Justin Marcum, Amber Durbin (Nick), Kelsey Wood, and Darran Hawthorne II (Lindsay Shouse); seven great grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Jo Hoover (Jim).

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.

Visitation will be from 1- 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
