Obituary

William Bruce Benson, of Foxboro, formerly of Canton died peacefully August 29, 2016 following a three year battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. Bruce was born in Brockton,MA and was the son of the late Peter E. Benson, Sr. of Oslo, Norway and the late Lydia S. Benson of Boston, MA. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired heavy equipment operator and mechanic who worked for the Podgurski Corporation in Canton for many years. Bruce enjoyed fixing up cars for the demolition derby with the Hammer Time demo team, going to car shows, and spending time with friends and family. he was always quick with the one liners that had everybody laughing and once you met him for better or worse you’d never forget him. He worked hard all his life and sacrificed the things he wanted so that his family would never be without, he was a truly great man. Loving father of Brian H. Newcomb and his wife Heather of Foxboro and Joan M. Holland and her husband Andrew of Cumberland R.I. and their mother Lori A. Di Tomaso of Holbrook. He is Also Survived by many long time friends he worked with at the Podgurski Corporation, The Newcomb family of Canton, MA and the Taylor family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Carin MacLean Foundation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St., Canton, Friday from 3-6 PM. Interment will be private.
