Mildred "Elaine" Anderson Meeks, 71, of Chula passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016, at Tifton’s First Assembly of God with the Rev. John Thomas and the Rev. Randy Stokes officiating. A eulogy will be given by Solomon Hill. Mrs. Meeks will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 1, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Meeks will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Asche Little, Toney Anderson, Mark Allan Strickland, Mak Strickland, Mason Strickland, Austin Frazier and Willis Hopkins will serve as pallbearers.
Born May 7, 1945 in Plant City, Florida, Mrs. Meeks was the daughter of the late Carson Arthel Anderson and Martha C. Winn Anderson. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carson Austin Anderson. She was a homemaker and member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God. Mrs. Meeks is survived by her husband, Gary Leon Meeks of Chula; a brother, Tony Anderson of Chula; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary C. and Elvin McAllister of Tifton and Betty Jo Walker of Abbeville.
