Concord-----Marguerite Rosalie Bagley LaFrance, 86, passed away suddenly from age-related causes on August 26, 2016.
Marguerite was born in Berlin, N.H. on August 5, 1930, to John Francis Bagley and Margaret Ann Hogan. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1948.
Marguerite met her husband, Leo Alec LaFrance, as a teenager, when he made twice weekly deliveries of ice to the Bagley home. Their friendship blossomed into love and they were married on June 16, 1950, at St. Kieran’s Catholic Church in Berlin. They lived in Berlin until 1963, when they moved to Laconia, where they remained more than 50 years. They recently moved to Granite Ledges Assisted Living Center in Concord.
Marguerite spent her life in service to her family-- both her siblings and her children. She dearly loved following the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren and more recently of her great-grandchildren. Hosting family gatherings, for years at the family’s camp on Lake Winnisquam and later at their home on Lake Winnipesaukee , were a highlight of her legacy.Marguerite was also a volunteer in her parish church and school and in the community.She will be dearly missed by all of her family and many friends.
Marguerite is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years Leo LaFrance; four sons, David LaFrance and his wife, Jill of Purcellville, VA, Shawn LaFrance and his wife Rebecca Farver LaFrance of Concord NH, James LaFrance of Gilford, NH, and Thomas and his wife, Lynn LaFrance of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren, Jane of Purcellville, VA, Matthew and his wife, Meghan of Erda, UT, John and his wife, Danielle of Conroe, TX, Ethan and Aidan of Concord, NH, Ryan, Joshua and Emily of Gilford, NH, and Christine and Stephen LaFrance of Boston, MA; and five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kai , Nichole, Trey, and Luke LaFrance; sister-in-law Geraldine Bagley of New Gloucester, ME; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers J. Leo Bagley and Carroll Bagley, and a sister, Mary Havey.
Marguerite and Leo were parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church in Laconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andre Bessette Parish, St. Josephs Church, 30 Church St. Laconia NH, on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:30am.
Internment will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.
