Patricia A. "Pat" (Collins) Mahoney, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home in Chelsea following an extended illness. She was 77 years old.
Pat was born in Boston on March 16, 1939, a daughter of the late John E. Collins Jr. and Mildred R. (Cotter) Collins. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Cambridge. Pat worked for John Hancock Life Insurance Company in Boston in their Claims Department and retired after 38 years of dedicated service. She has been a crossing guard for the Boston Public School system in Charlestown for the last 8 years always looking out for the safety of children. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to Foxwoods.
Pat is the devoted mother of Brian Mahoney, Dennis Mahoney and his companion Stella Burke, David "Slip" Mahoney and his wife Diane, Paul "Devil" Mahoney and his wife Kathy, and Kelly Mahoney. She is the loving Nana Pat to 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her beloved Mollie. She is the beloved sister of John E. Collins, Maureen Bambery and the late James P. Collins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Pat's Funeral on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial is private. Her visiting hours will be on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
