
Mr. Joseph A. Phillippino, of Taunton, died Monday, August 22 in Island Terrace, Lakeville, following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeannette A. (Cote) Phillippino. He was born 80 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Louis and Josephine (DeSaro) Phillippino. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Joseph had been employed as a forklift repairman for New England Lift Trucks of Rhode Island for several years. He was previously employed by Clark Lift Trucks of Rhode Island for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the 1950’s. Joseph enjoyed singing in a Barbershop Quartet, The Take Four, as well as several other barbershop quartets. He also enjoyed camping and cooking. He was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Parish in North Dighton.
He leaves: 1 son: Joseph E. Phillippino and his wife, Victoria of Lakeville; 1 daughter: Debra A. Binette and her husband, David of West Wareham; 1 sister: Gloria Floor of Taunton; 5 grandchildren: Nicole Phillippino, Jillian Andress, Christine Phillippino, Corey Binette, and Kayleigh Binette; 3 great grandchildren: Alexis Eliasen, Ethan Andress, and Makenzie Eliasen, and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was also the brother of the late Michael Phillippino of Taunton, and the late Fr. Louis Phillippino.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, August 26 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, No. Dighton, at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
