Ida M. (Manley) Small, age 86, died peacefully, on Tuesday May 21, 2002 at the Harbor House Nursing Home in Hingham. She was born in Dorchester on April 7, 1916 to the late William F. Manley and Martha C. Mathony.
Her education included graduating from the St. Gregory High School and attending Northeastern University.
She was employed as an accounts payable accountant for the Elliot Industries of Cambridge as well as Hills Department Stores for over 40 years until her retirement in 1981.
She has been a resident of Medford since 1953 previously of Dorchester.
Ida was a communicant of St. Raphael church. As a communicant she was very active as a eucharistic minister and a food pantry volunteer. She was also a volunteer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She is the beloved wife of the late Elliot H. Small. Loving sister of William F. Manley of Braintree and Eleanor Fiske of Duck Key, Florida. Loving Aunt of William J. and his wife Karen Manley of Braintree, Martha-Joyce and her husband Charles V. Glynn of Weymouth, Peter Cribbie of Billerica and Joseph O'Connor of Sterling.
Donations in Ida's memory may be made to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Baystate Drive, Braintree, MA 02185.Funeral information: Funeral from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday morning at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Raphael's Church, 514 High Street, Medford, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours, Thursday from 4- 8 p.m. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
