Raymond C. Begin,81, of 131 Pine Ave., died Saturday, July 23 in
Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.
He was the husband of Bernadette T. (Rosner) Begin who died in 2000. He
leaves a daughter Linda A. Begin of Wales, a brother Lawrence Begin of Barre
and a sister Louise Dickinson of Brookfield, several nieces and nephews
including a nephew Glenn Begin with whom he lived. He is predeceased by
brothers Robert, Edmund and Maurice and sisters Georgette Letendre and Marie
Daoust.
Mr. Begin was a communication engineer for New England Electric System in
Westboro for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a
member of the American Legion in Sturbridge.
Born in Boston, he was the son of Edmund and Gaetane (St.Hilaire) Begin and
lived in Spencer for most of his life, then Nokomis, Fl. for 11 years,
Brattleboro, Vt. for 2 years, before moving to Sturbridge in 2000.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, July 27 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of
the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow with Military
Honors in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling
hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart
