Obituary

Bobby Sanford, 60, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dan Hayes and the Rev. James Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanford was born November 8, 1944 in Blackshear, Georgia, to the late Joseph and Nolie Singletary Sanford. He lived in the community most of his life and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era, where he received the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Mr. Sanford was a Carpenter and Brick Mason, he owned/operated Sanford & Son Salvage, was a former school bus driver for Ben Hill County, a former employee of the Fitzgerald Public Housing Authority and former Maintenance Supervisor at Summit Apartments. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and attended the Church Of The Nazarene. Mr. Sanford was an active member of the American Legion Post #99.

Mr. Sanford is survived by his wife, Linda Alexander Sanford of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law, Joe & Tammie Sanford of Fitzgerald; daughter, Jessica Sanford of Milltown, NJ; granddaughter, Gaby Sanford of Fitzgerald and brothers, Zebbie Sanford and Diamond Sanford, both of Americus. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
