Hurshell Pope, 80, of Enigma passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Pete Jones officiating. A eulogy will be given by Titus Freuler. Mr. Pope will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born August 22, 1935 in Hamilton, Alabama, Mr. Pope was the son of the late Ben L. Pope and Rosie V. Kennedy Pope. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Pope Freuler; and three brothers, Arnie Lee Pope, R. V. Pope and Arnold David Pope. He retired as a superintendent at W. R. Grace Corporation in Fort Pierce, Florida and was a member of Enigma Baptist Church. He had lived in Enigma for the past 25 years.
Mr. Pope is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Lucas Pope of Enigma; and a sister, Elouise Pope Lewis of Cross City, Florida.
