Doris H. McCree, 91, of Franklin passed away at home on August 12. She was born in Boston on March 12, 1925, daughter of the late Benjamin and Helen (Mitchell) McCree.
Miss McCree was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Girls’ High School in 1942. She later lived in Milton prior to moving to Franklin in 1962.
Doris was an accounting clerk for the Jordan Marsh Company for most of her career. She continued her clerical career working for Kendall Mills and then Bird Johnson of Walpole, retiring in 1990.
Doris was an avid reader, especially of the classics. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing scrabble.
She is survived by her sisters Loretta Farney of Montana and Estelle Melvin of Maryland. She was the sister of the late Frances McCree, Edward McCree and John McCree. Doris is also survived by her niece Dyane Richards and her husband Wayne, and nephews David Faria and Donald Faria.
Doris, beloved “Auntie” is survived by her Goddaughter and caregiver Doris Madden of Franklin. “Auntie”, much loved, will be forever missed by Jared, Allison, Ashleigh Madden, Amanda (Madden) & Dave, Bradley, Vanessa and Megan Fitzgerald, Paul Smith, Annie (Smith) & Bob, Landon, and Brody Coutinho, Christina Smith and Caroline Smith. Doris McCree was the adopted “Auntie” to all of our cousins, friends and the families of our old neighborhood , Tyson Road, Franklin.
Her funeral will be on Thursday, August 18 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10: 00. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit and wear something blue, in honor of “Auntie’s” favorite color.
