Obituary

MARTIN Mary T. (DeVito) of Needham passed away August 11, 2016, her 92nd birthday, surrounded by her loving daughters. Beloved wife of the late Robert L. Martin. Loving mother of Joanne E. Tarabelsi and her husband Elias of Waltham, Robin M. Powers and her husband Matthew of Holliston, and Mary Beth Martin Esq. of Dedham. Cherished grandmother of Jenna, Emily, and Anna. Sister of Joseph DeVito and his wife Jeanne of Stoughton and Evelyn Callanan of Stoughton. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Upon her graduation from Fisher Jr. College, Mary worked as an executive secretary at Westinghouse Electric Corporation. This is where she met her husband of 46 years, Bob. They raised their family in Needham, where Mary was involved in many volunteer positions centered around her daughters. While being a mother was her main role, she did hold several part-time jobs including secretary to a Needham financial advisor and fundraising sales representative for the Nestle Corporation. Mary was happiest at the beach and enjoyed many wonderful times with family and dear friends in Wareham and on Cape Cod.

The Martin family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living of Dedham and, most recently, the staff of Briarwood of Needham, both of whom treated Mary with much dignity and respect.

Followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday, Aug. 14th from 3-7pm.
