Mary E. Lumley, 97 of Hampstead, NH and Salemhaven Nursing Home, Salem, NH died Monday, July 25, 2005 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Nashua, NH. Mrs. Lumley was born in Malden, MA on November 17, 1907, a daughter of the late William and Ellen (Barrett) Wallace. Until the time of her retirement, she was employed as receptionist and bookkeeper at Bixby Co. in Haverhill, MA, Standard Sash & Door in Derry, NH and Chelmsford Shoe in Derry. She loved to travel to Florida and her trips to Alaska and Ireland were the highlights of her travels. While residing at Salemhaven Nursing Home, she was a member of the Residents' Council, enjoyed BINGO, and the company of her friends and dedicated nurses and staff.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia E. Clark of Hampstead, three grandchildren, Stephen Clark and his wife Julie of Hampstead, Thomas Clark and his wife Colleen of Nashua and Kimberly Clark of Hampstead. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Stephanie and Olivia Clark and Heather Grenier, one great-great-grandchild, Hailey Grenier and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William E. Lumley in 1977, two brothers, Richard C. and Joseph Wallace and a sister, Gertrude La Fortune.
Following cremation a Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Saturday, August 13th in Holy Angels Church, (Route 121), Plaistow, NH. There will be no visiting hours. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements.
